Prior to 1979, all commercial vehicles had either a 1 year "C" plate which expired March 31 or else were registered quarterly or semi-annually
"C" for March, "X" for June, "A" for September, and "B" for December
Only vehicles over 10,000 lbs were eligible for quarterly registrations; (later this became 4,500 Kg)
