    Why This Web Page?

The year was 1976. The U.S. was celebrating its bicentennial and Canada was hosting the Olympics in Montreal. Jimmy Carter was elected President, and Pierre Trudeau was serving as the Canadian prime minister. And, my daughter Amy was born, which started this collection of license plates to be found on these web pages as sort of a birth year run.
Originally, it started with passenger car plates in 1995, but it has evolved to include plates from all modes of transportation. Unless noted the plates shown are part of my collection. Besides the regular plates issued by most states and provinces, there are a number featuring U.S. bicentennial themes, varieties of regular issues, front booster plates and a plates for trucks, campers, trailers, motorcycles, bicycles, boats etc. New items added in the past 30 days are noted with the arrows and date of addition next to the state or province.  Let me know if any links are not working properly, as I just moved the site to a new host. - Mike Sells, ALPCA 6464
I have appreciated the help of a number of collectors with adding to this collection with not only plates, but additions and corrections to information. A number of plates are particularly difficult to identify as to time frame--municipal, official, state owned vehicles and antique/historic issues cause the most problem. Thanks to those collectors who continually help me update information. Many of them are acknowledged on the web pages with links to either web sites or e mail addresses.
